90 reviews

The Okinawa Okhi 90 has a lot of advantages right from the start – a balanced stance and good abilities to tackle our roads, a decent powertrain and an adequate amount of tech. However, take a closer look and the disparity between the Okhi 90 and its competition becomes apparent. The Okhi 90 fails to tickle the modern, futuristic vibe of its rivals and also lacks funky visual appeal. In terms of technology, completion moves forward with color touch screens, map-based navigation and more. Other electric scooters also offer better performance. Finally, the Okinawa network is a hit and miss and its long-term reliability is still unknown. However, if a single e-scooter doesn’t get you moving, the Okhi 90 should definitely be on the consideration board.

Advantages

  • 16-inch wheels might offer a better ride
  • High claimed range

The inconvenients

  • Reliability is unknown
  • Lacks modern air and latest technology

The TVS iQube has a simplistic and straightforward design language. It doesn’t go for the kind of sleek profile like the Ola S1 Pro. The electric scooter offers an average autonomy, which is nothing exceptional. It offers a good suite of features and a comfortable driving experience.

Advantages:

  • Simplistic design
  • Good features

The inconvenients:

  • Medium range
  • Inconsistent top speed

RV400 Revolt Review

The Revolt RV400 is one of the earliest entrants into the electric two-wheeler space in India. Most of the fundamentals of the RV400 are sorted and thus provide a complete experience. There is no strong competition and therefore not much to compare and the e-bike segment remains a niche in the market. The 150 km range, LED lighting, generous ground clearance and interchangeable battery proved to be strong points of the RV400. However, the RV400’s aging tech hardware could put buyers off, especially with scooters offering more connected and cohesive features built into a color touchscreen dash.

Advantages

  • Striking design
  • Good range
  • Smart Features

The inconvenients

  • Aging product with no follow-up upgrades
  • Reduced market presence

The last purchase window opened on May 21, and this time it was only for the top-end S1 Pro model. The company had also started offering trial rides in 5 cities from May 19, which can be booked through the Ola Cabs app. Previously, Ola Electric opened the e-scooter purchase window in March 2022, which again lasted 48 hours, between March 17 and 18.

Range, modes and maximum speed

Bounce Infinity E1

The Bounce Infinity E1 pairs a BLDC electric motor with its built-in swappable 2KWhr 48V battery and offers a top speed of 65 km/h in Power mode while in Eco mode it offers a range of 85 km. Electric Scooter Vs Gasoline Scooter Price Performance Range Usability What To Buy?

Electric VS Gasoline Scooter – What to Buy?

Electric scooters have been a huge hit as they are grabbing all the attention from buyers. With newer players claiming record bookings like Ola S1 or even other players like Ather doing well, can we say this is the end of the gas scooter? Not enough.

Gas powered scooters like the hugely popular Honda Active continue to remain extremely popular and are still by far the best selling scooter. Yes, they may not have the noise surrounding an Ola, but that doesn’t mean it’s not selling. The best-selling gas scooters currently are dominated by the Honda Activa, TVS Jupiter and TVS Ntorq 125. Electric scooters still have time to match reliability or even range and range. Let’s see a few points.

Cost

Typically, electric scooters are outright more expensive than gas-powered scooters, but the cost has come down due to subsidies. That said, gas scooters are cheaper at the moment. Even the electric scooter is easier to maintain with much lower maintenance costs because electric scooters have fewer parts. However, longevity also needs to be looked at as a gas powered scooter can run for many years whereas an electric scooter can have its battery life limited to around 4 years?

Performance

This is where electric scooters win as they are much faster and smoother with smooth acceleration. Therefore, for city use when squeezing under gaps for instant acceleration, an electric scooter is easier to use. Electric scooters have a lot more torque, which further improves performance. It’s not that gas scooters are slow, but electric scooters just have more instant traction.

Range and Usability

This is where gas scooters win. Electric scooters may promise great range, but the real world can’t match the convenience of a gas-powered scooter. Sure, for a commute around town the new line of electric scooters makes sense with just about good real-world range, but their range currently isn’t good enough to beat a gas-powered scooter in terms of simple “fill it, close it”. and forget about it”. With a gasoline scooter, you can take it anywhere without worrying about range.

There is also a lack of charging infrastructure. Sparing few cities, the charging infrastructure can’t match the sheer ease of use that a gas-powered scooter gives you, no matter the price of gas. Also for buyers, the installation of charging stations or access to charging remains a major challenge. A gas powered scooter is more reliable and works anywhere, it matters.

What to buy?

If you live in big cities and have access to charging at your home/office and use a scooter for short distances, then an electric scooter makes sense. The range is decent, it’s smooth, fast and easy to use. Plus, of course, they’re cheaper to run, with gas prices being so high.

That said, gas scooters are tougher, more reliable, easier to maintain for years to come, with the freedom to take anywhere, and the convenience of just filling up and going. Charging infrastructure is an issue with the higher cost of purchasing an electric scooter. In many ways, a gas powered scooter makes even more sense overall and it’s no surprise they sell for so many.

Which is way below the price of most electric scooters in the Indian market. If the electric scooter really falls into such a price category, it will make a big difference.

According to recent reports, the company filed various electric vehicles with other BBK Electronics subsidiaries Realme, OnePlus, and Vivo in 2018.

If Oppo brings the EV to market, the company could be the first Chinese tech company to enter India’s EV space.

Oppo could also launch a Tata Nano as an electric car in India

The company is also reportedly working on a Tata Nano, like a compact car. As it is compared to Tata Nano, we can assume that the design could be compact and only fit a limited number, unlike a typical sedan or sedan. OPPO designs these vehicles primarily for intra-city journeys. We can probably expect more models in the future that will be premium and take brands like Tata, MG, Ather, Ola and others.

Apparently OPPO is in talks with battery manufacturing companies and parts suppliers. Interestingly, some of these companies supply parts to top brands like Telsa. Since this will be OPPO’s very first take on electric vehicles, the company would like to get it right. After Realme and OnePlus, OPPO has also filed for brands of electric vehicles in India. Since there is an almost 2-3 year gap until OPPO actually launches the EV, we hope to find more details about them. Stick around.

Oppo electric scooter, Tata Nano type car in preparation?

Oppo could launch its first electric vehicle in India by 2024. Ahead of the launch, a report claims that this electric vehicle could be offered at a price of around Rs 1 lakh. The report also shares some key details of Oppo’s electric scooter. Although there is no word on the specifications or features, the report indicates that Oppo could price its scooter in India under Rs 60,000. The price would be very aggressive compared to the competition, which offers scooters for about or more than one lakh rupees.

The report further adds that Oppo is in talks with battery manufacturing companies and parts suppliers, some of which supply parts to Tesla. Oppo has also registered an electric vehicle trademark in India. Therefore, the rumors that the company is launching an EV could be true.

Ola S1 Electric Scooter Price: Ola Postpones Sale of S1 Electric Scooter to September 15 After Website Problems, Bhavish Aggarwal Apologizes

Ola Electric postponed the process of selling its S1 electric scooter until September 15 for a week because it faced “technical difficulties” in making the shopping website live for customers on Wednesday. The company last month launched the Ola S1 electric scooter in two variants – S1 and S1 Pro – at Rs 99,999 and Rs 1,29,999, respectively (ex-showroom with FAME II subsidy and excluding state subsidies ).

He had announced that the scooter would be available for purchase from September 8 and that actual deliveries would begin in October.

In a late-night statement on Twitter, Ola Chairman and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal said the buying process had been delayed for a week and would begin from September 15.

“We made a commitment to start shopping today for our Ola S1 scooter. But unfortunately, we encountered many technical difficulties in keeping our shopping website alive today.

“I want to apologize to all of you, who had to wait several hours. The website just did not live up to our quality expectations. I know we have disappointed you and I am sorry. Sincerely apologies to all of you for what was clearly a very frustrating experience, ”he said.

The company has implemented a fully digital shopping journey, including a fully digital lending process without any paperwork, Aggarwal customers informed.

“We wanted to deliver this first of its kind digital shopping trip and today we were unable to do so. It will take us another week to deliver the right experience to you. I want to let you know that we will now begin our purchase on September 15th, 8am.

“Your reservation and your position in the purchase queue remain unchanged, so if you booked first, you will still be able to purchase it first. Our delivery dates also remain unchanged,” he noted. .

Ola Electric had opened pre-launch bookings for its electric scooters in July for Rs 499 and had received 1 lakh of orders in just 24 hours. However, the company has not disclosed the number of orders it has received so far.

On August 15, the company officially announced its foray into the green mobility space with the launch of its first electric scooter, Ola S1.

The scooter is available in 10 colors with an in-house developed 8.5 KW motor and 3.97 kWh batteries. Ola sets up a manufacturing plant, spread over 500 acres, in Tamil Nadu.

The company had said that it would initially start with an annual production capacity of 10 lakh, then increase it to 20 lakh, in line with market demand, in the first phase.

When fully completed, Ola Electric said its plant would have an annual capacity of one crore of units, “or 15% of total world two-wheeler production.”

Ola Electric Scooter Price in India

Ola Cabs, Indian major in public transport, has launched their first electric scooter at Rs 1 lakh for the base model Ola Electric S1.

Bhavish Aggarwal, the co-founder of Ola Cabs has been tirelessly teasing and promoting the startup’s new electric scooter for a while and finally the prices have been announced. Unsurprisingly, Ola Electric has attracted good traction among electric scooter buyers in India.

The new electric scooter is offered in two variants – the Ola Electric S1, priced at Rs 1 lakh and the pepier Ola Electric S1 Pro which costs Rs 1.30 lakh. If you live in a state that offers monetary benefits for electric vehicles, you can save up to Rs 20,000. People who have already reserved a slot now have the option of purchasing the scooters. The whole process is completely digital and those who want to see the scooter in the flesh will have to wait a bit. This is strictly on a first come, first served basis and the window will only stay open while supplies last. EMIs start at Rs 2,999 for the Ola S1 and Rs 3,199 for the Ola S1 Pro.

Here is the pricing by state:

Battery and electric motor

Both the Ola Electric S1 and the Ola Electric S1 Pro are powered by an 8.5 kW (11.6 hp) electric motor with a continuous output of 5.5 kW (7.5 hp), making it makes it as powerful as sporty IC scooters like the Aprilia SR 160. S1 gets a 2.98 kWh, non-removable lithium-ion battery pack compared to the Pro’s 3.97 kWh battery. And for a full charge, the smaller battery takes 4:48 hours, while the Pro takes a good 6:30. Interestingly, by using a fast charger, you can get enough juice for 75 km in just 18 minutes. While the S1 promises to reach a top speed of 90 km / h with a range of 121 km, the S1 Pro can go up to 115 km / h and return to a range of 181 km. In the exclusive “Hyper” mode, the S1 Pro claims to hit 60 km / h in 5.0 seconds, or about 2 seconds faster than the S1 which only gets the standard “Normal” and “Sport” modes. These numbers should make the Ola electric scooter a decent city ride.

Cycle rooms
Both Ola electric scooters are based on the same cycle parts, including a tubular frame, a single telescopic arm at the front and a single shock absorber at the rear. The electric scooter runs on 12 inch alloys shod with 110/70 R12 tires, which seems commensurate with the overall dimensions. Braking is handled by discs at both ends, with a 220mm disc up front and 180mm disc at the rear wheel, offered with CBS’s safety net. However, we would have liked to see ABS at least on the high-end finish. In terms of body color, the Ola Electric S1 comes in five non-metallic options, while the S1 Pro has a choice of five additional metallic colors. In terms of practicality, there’s a fairly usable 36-liter under-seat storage space, an accessible seat height of 792mm and ground clearance of 165mm should be enough to tackle most urban challenges.

Characteristics
There is a long list of amenities, including some standard features like proximity lock / unlock, remote start unlock, anti-theft alert, geolocation, smartphone connectivity with in-car navigation, Limp Home and reverse modes. Meanwhile, Hill Hold, cruise control and voice assistance are offered exclusively with the higher-end Ola Electric S1 Pro.

Although India’s two-wheeler landscape is dominated by internal combustion engine models, there has been growing interest from established conventional manufacturers and several start-ups in the electric mobility space. Building on this growing demand, Ola Electric will fight against established models like the Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube and Ather 450X. Apart from that, Ola Electric aims to install charging stations in 100 cities in the first year of their operations.

Announcing the price of the Ola S1 electric scooter in India: 5 scooters it will compete against

The highly anticipated Ola electric scooter price in India and specifications have been announced. The company presented two scooters, called Ola S1 and Ola S1 Pro. Both scooters serve the premium electric scooter market, but it is the Ola S1 that is likely to attract more buyers, possibly due to its slightly affordable price compared to the Ola S1 Pro. The Ola S1 electric scooter will be retailed in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs 99,999 – excluding state subsidies. The scooter, with its big brother Ola S1 Pro, will be available for purchase starting September 8, with October shipments to 1,000 cities. We take a look at some of the Ola S1’s competitors here in this article which is likely to make its course a bit bumpy in the market.

Ola S1 specifications, price in India at a glance

Electric scooter Ola S1

5 electric scooters that will compete with Ola S1

1. Ather 450 Plus and 450x

Ather Energy’s Ather 450 series is one of the most influential pure EV scooters in India and is quite proudly grown here unlike most others in the segment. The Ather 450 Plus and the 450x are the members of the range where the 450x is more performance oriented of the two. The Ather 450 has benchmark acceleration times, a claimed range of 116 km (actual range approx. 80 km), support for fast charging, an IP67 rated battery with a 3 year warranty and a Decent storage of 22 L. The design 450 approaches with a modern look executed with taste and offers interesting color combinations. The Ather 450 uses a cast aluminum frame and weighs just 108kg (for comparison, Ola S1 Pro weighs 125kg).

The Ather 450 range is already on sale in 11 cities with more to follow. The Ather 450 also hosts connected technology, for which you have to pay on a quarterly or annual basis. The Ather 450 battery is guaranteed for 3 years / unlimited kilometers. The price offers are as follows.

Vehicle price: The Ather 450 Plus was sold for Rs 1,68,989 in India (ex-Bangalore showroom excluding FAME II subsidy), while the Ather 450x sells for Rs 1,87,999 (ex-showroom Bengaluru exhibition outside FAME II subsidy). The scooters come with a few connectivity plans including Ather Connect Lite which costs Rs 400 / quarter or Rs 1,500 / year and Ather Connect Pro, which will get you back to Rs 700 / quarter or Rs 2,400 / year.

2. Bajaj Chetak

The Chetak of yesteryear is back and this time with a modern, purely electric drivetrain. The Chetak is branded without the Bajaj tag, to appeal to old and new customers. The Chetak is one of the more expensive scooters on the market and also lacks the allure of the new generation when it comes to technology and other modernities. Chetak avoids bragging about acceleration times, but being an electric vehicle, it should be pretty good for the city. That said, the Chetak looks more conventional with its modern-retro swoopy design, 6 color options and of course the brand name. The Chetak also promises an IP67 certified body, LED headlights, a claimed range of 90 km, steel body panels and a good guarantee of a well-established after-sales network.

The Chetak is stepping back in time with its basic digital console and no proper connectivity tech underneath. It also means that there is no subscription to pay regularly once you buy this scooter. Chetak de Bajaj also promises a 3 year / 50,000 km warranty. This surprisingly pulls up to 7 years / 70,000 km provided the user never lets the battery drop below 15% and uses the vehicle regularly.

Vehicle price: The price of Chetak Urbane in India is set at Rs 1,000,000 (ex-Delhi showroom), while Chetak Premium costs Rs 1,15,000 (ex-Delhi showroom).

3. iQube TV

The TVS iQube is an attempt by a traditional large-scale two-wheeler manufacturer and it shows. The approach is safe even if it lacks imagination and is clearly designed to appeal to a much larger audience who would prefer the TVS brand to other newcomers to the segment. The TVS iQube hosts a decent albeit generic EV powertrain with a claimed range of just 75 km in eco mode. Acceleration times are in the order of 4.5 seconds and the top speed is 78 km / h. The iQube also uses a base 3 Li-ion battery set and a low-power 4.4 kW motor. The design is also quite original with rounded square shapes throughout. Also from a construction point of view, iQube is playing it safe with basic mechanics. The iQube is however IP67 certified and tips the scales at a moderate weight of 118kg.

The TVS iQube battery gives you a 3 year / 50,000 km warranty. Upon purchase, TVS offers a lifetime subscription to SmartXonnect basic features, a one-year subscription to RSA, and a one-year subscription to SmartXonnect Advanced. The iQube is available in 6 cities.

Vehicle price: iQube comes with a sticker price of Rs 1,00,777 (on Delhi route). The scooter also comes with a SmartXonnet Advanced subscription, which costs Rs 900 / year.

4. HX Electric Photon Hero

Electric Hero Photon HX

The Hero Electric Photon HX looks like it’s a generation or two in terms of styling and powertrain. The unimpressive numbers, the quirky or downright ugly style, the lack of new-age features, the bizarre colors don’t appeal to the heart or the mind. The Photon HX has a meager top speed of 45 km / h, so it’s virtually impossible to get a speeding ticket. The only decent thing to brag about is a claimed range of 108 km. Hero’s lack of connected features and odd, uninteresting marketing doesn’t sweeten the deal for what is currently the most expensive EV two-wheeler in Hero’s portfolio. The only saving grace, if any, is Hero’s healthy reseller and service network.

Vehicle price: Hero Electric Photon HX is priced at Rs 71,440 in India (ex-Delhi showroom)

5. Simple

One of the most promising upcoming electric scooters and a worthy rival to the Ola S1 and S1 Pro scooters will be the Simple One from the home of another startup, Simple Energy. Although currently in a pre-production state, but Simple Energy has started to accept pre-bookings, the scooter has high claims matching and even exceeding the likes of the Ola S1 and S1 Pro. The Simple One claims the fastest 0-40 km / h time in 2.95 seconds while promising a claimed range of 236 km. The Simple One has a removable battery which makes the scooter easier and faster to charge and it achieves this while having 30L of trunk space. The Simple One claims to be 99% localized to keep prices in check.

Vehicle price: The Simple One is priced at Rs 1.09,999. Delivery is expected to begin by the end of this year.

In order to obtain the next price of the electric scooter below Rs. 1 lakh, Ather will have to reduce the ex-showroom price of the electric vehicle (excluding subsidies) to less than Rs. 1.50 lakh.

The CEO of Ather also revealed that he expects the Company’s Average Energy Efficiency (CAFE) standards (which will take effect on April 1, 2022) to further increase the rates charged for scooters at internal combustion.

Additionally, Tarun Mehta said that upgrades developed for the 450X in the future will focus on improving the performance of the electric vehicle. He wants to equip the scooter with a better regenerative braking system, improved ABS and make it go faster than it currently can.

The price of Ampere electric scooter starts from Rs 42k in Gujarat

Magnus Pro amp

Following the review of FAME II subsidies and the update of Gujarat’s EV policy, Ampere electric scooters are now available for less than 50,000 euros.

Along with range anxiety, a major concern for those considering purchasing an electric scooter has always been the cost of the vehicle itself. Now that the Fame II policy has been revised and various state governments have introduced state-specific EV policies, things are starting to improve. Just last month, Gujarat’s EV policy was announced shortly after the FAME II grant review. The current price revision

With this, Ampere electric scooters are now available at a retail price below Rs 50k. Recent price revisions could prove to provide the boost needed to make electric scooters a viable daily commute option.

Ampere Vehicles is an electric mobility company of Greaves Cotton Limited. A price revision means that even big Ampere Electric scooters are now listed below the price of 50,000. Compared to prices in the scooter segment, this might be just the necessary prompt.

Gujarat EV Policy

Gujarat EV Policy has helped manufacturers of electric two-wheelers revise prices in the state to improve their market appeal. Ampere Electric values these initiatives as they fuel the growth of such mobility solutions for last mile connectivity.

Amp electric scooter New price (Ex-Gujarat) Old Price (Ex-Gujarat) Diff
Magnus 47 990 74,990 -27,000
Zealous 41 990 68 990 -27,000

The current sentiment regarding the use of two-wheelers is being watched closely by millions of people as the price of gasoline regularly hits the $ 100 mark. Roy Kurian, COO, Ampere Electric, said: “This will help commuters optimize their gasoline expense in their conventional 2W. It will also help logistics players in B2B segments to save significantly on their transportation costs and instead use that money for business development.

Ampere Magnus and Zeal electric scooters

Ampere Magnus and Zeal can reach a top speed of 55 km / h. Autonomy is indicated at 75 km when fully charged. Depending on mobility needs, the duration can be 2 good days. Since the start of operations, Ampere Electric has built its customer base to over 80,000 people. Ampere Magnus was previously listed for Rs 74,990 and is now available at the revised price of Rs 47,990. The Zeal Electric Scooter was previously listed at Rs 68,990 and does not cost Rs 41,990.

Electric vehicle policy revisions may well be the boost the electric vehicle industry needs. The more timely they are, the more beneficial they are. The growth potential of the electric vehicle industry is a natural course of events as the world transitions to carbon neutrality and shrinking carbon footprints. This potential is proving to be a springboard for many manufacturers.

The electric vehicle industry, especially the two-wheeler market, has seen a large number of new generation manufacturers enter the segment in recent years. This includes a series of tech companies and others that have embarked on the EV journey. The market continues to see new manufacturers entering the foray pointing to a future that could be very different from the current two-wheeler market.

Modern policies on electric vehicles set a target for reducing carbon emissions. At the same time, political guidelines encourage entrepreneurs to venture into the field of electric mobility. This could see the light of day thanks to the establishment of charging stations, which are today a key area of intervention. A robust EV charging network will increase the convenience of the EV industry. The government has announced that the execution of the current plans will help reduce CO2 emissions by around six lakh tonnes over the next 4 years.

Komaki Electric Scooter Price Reduced by 20,000 in Delhi – Sales Growth of 14.5,000 in 2021

Komaki electric scooter. Image – Hello EV

Komaki announces price subsidy for its electric two-wheelers and continues to expand its dealer network

Following further updates to the Fame II EV policy last week, manufacturers stepped in to announce a price cut almost immediately. India’s electric vehicle industry, although small, has seen a lot of activity from new age electric two-wheeler manufacturers in recent years.

Being a nascent industry has ensured a level playing field for new entrants. Considering that a transition is expected in the coming years, new players are using the current timeline to establish their brand and products. Komaki announced a price subsidy in Delhi for its limited product line. The company also set foot in Delhi with the launch of a new dealership this month. Komaki is already selling its vehicles through dealers in Kerala, Gujarat, Karnataka and West Bengal, starting in February 2021.

Komaki Delhi Dealers

The dynamics of gasoline prices continued to increase. These numbers are now consistently bouncing above the Rs 100 mark. This too can be a serious consideration when it comes to buying a two-wheeler. This, and the current drop in prices, puts the manufacturers of electric two-wheelers in an enviable position.

At the very least, the situation is likely to improve public interest in electric two-wheelers. An opportune moment for manufacturers of electric two-wheelers to establish their position not only as a greener choice, but also as a cheaper alternative to vehicles with combustion engines.

Komaki electric motorcycle
Komaki electric motorcycle

Until 2021, Komaki has sold more than 14,500 vehicles. This counts for something since the company has only recently started its sales operations and is currently continuing to build its sales network. The most recent concession covers 1,500 square feet in the Jhandewalan area (110055). Since the start of operations, the dealership has sold over 120 vehicles. At the same time, its order book continues to swell. 12 other concessions will become operational in Delhi over the next 2 months.

Electric two-wheeler industry

With the Fame II policy now extended until 2025, EV manufacturers can continue to strengthen their long-term plans. Despite the constraints related to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, sales of electric two-wheelers continued to grow over the past fiscal year.

Of course, it helped that industry collective sales turned out to be a small base number to start with. But with the 2W electric vehicle industry receiving a 50% per kWh subsidy, by 2025 this industry could very well be a force to be reckoned with.

Komaki TN-95, a large family scooter is now available with a subsidy of Rs 20k. The price reduction for Komaki SE amounts to Rs 15k. The electric vehicle maker has implemented an online vehicle reservation system to ensure safe scanning, as well as overall security given the current circumstances. The company said, “Komaki is not asking for a price cut under the Fame 2 subsidy because the price will be different from what the company is going to announce soon.”

Ampere electric scooter price drop

Ampere Electric Scooters

Increased FAME-II subsidy narrowed the price gap between electric and gasoline powered two-wheelers

The high acquisition cost has been a major obstacle to the spread of electric scooters. Even though sales have been higher year over year, they still only represent a fraction of gasoline two-wheeler sales. Fortunately, with the increase in the FAME-II subsidy, sales of electric two-wheelers may increase in the coming months.

Several electric vehicle manufacturers reduced their prices after the increase in the FAME-II subsidy. The latest price reduction announcement comes from Ampere Vehicles, which is a subsidiary of Greaves Cotton Limited. Ampere electric scooters are known in the market for their competitive prices, decent range and dynamic performance.

Ampere Zeal and Magnus Pro new prices

Ampere electric scooters have become cheaper up to Rs 9,000. Zeal, which was previously available at Rs 68,990 is now priced at Rs 59,990. Likewise, the Magnus Pro price has been reduced from Rs 74,990 to Rs 65,990.

All prices are excluding showroom, Bangalore. The lower prices are made possible by the company‘s decision to pass on the benefits of the revised FAME-II subsidies to its customers. Below are the revised prices, ex-sh Bangalore.

Amp electric scooter New price Old price Diff
Zealous 59 990 68 990 -9,000
Magnus Pro 65,990 74,990 -9,000

With reduced prices, users can definitely think about switching to an electric scooter. As an example, we can compare prices with Honda Activa, which is the best-selling scooter in the country. The standard Activa 6G model is priced at Rs 69,924 while the DLX model sells for Rs 71,670 in Bengaluru. TVS Jupiter, which is the 2nd best-selling scooter, is priced at Rs 66,824, ex-Bengaluru. Thus, Ampere Zeal and Magnus Pro are now cheaper than Activa as well as Jupiter – the 2 best-selling scooters in India.

Ampere Electric Scooters

Ampere Zeal and Magnus – features and specifications

With a range of 80 km for Magnus and 85-90 km for Zeal, scooters should be sufficient for the daily commute. Both scooters offer quick acceleration and a top speed of 55 km / h. They can easily negotiate the city driving environment, which includes things like uphill gradients and overflights. Both scooters come with removable batteries, which allow users to charge them from the comfort of their own homes.

Another benefit that users can get is an extremely low running cost of just 15 pence per km. For a 100 km journey, the running cost will be only Rs 15.00. This is even cheaper than the price you will be charged on a bus, local train or metro.

Customers who buy Ampere Zeal or Magnus Pro can choose a property plan that best suits their budget. One option is the full subscription plan where customers can select the deposit amount as per their choice.

In the “power + subscription” plan, customers have everything to gain in the form of low monthly EMI. Both plans come with benefits such as full vehicle insurance, vehicle service and maintenance fees, registration and RTO fees, and unlimited mileage.

A cheaper iQube may become a more attractive option compared to rival Bajaj Chetak

In line with the changes introduced in FAME II (Faster Adoption and Manufacture of Electric Vehicles in India), the available subsidy has been increased to Rs 15,000 per kWh. Previously, the available subsidy was Rs 10,000 per kWh.

The new subsidy rates will apply to all electric and hybrid vehicles, except buses only. In addition, the government has increased the level of incentive to 40% of the cost of the vehicle. Previously, this was set at 20%.

Revised prices of TVS iQube

With the changes to the FAME-II subsidy program, the on-road price of iQube is now 11,250 rupees lower than before. iQube is currently offered in Delhi and Bangalore. In Delhi, the effective road price fell to 1.01 lakh.

In comparison, Bengaluru customers will have to pay Rs 1.10 lakh. The cost is lower in Delhi because the state government provides additional subsidies for electric vehicles. Promoting the use of electric vehicles is an integral part of the overall plan to reduce pollution in the National Capital Region.

With a significant price reduction, iQube can be in an advantageous position over its rival Bajaj Chetak. At the time of its launch, Chetak was offered at an attractive introductory price of Rs 1 lakh. However, with subsequent price revisions, Chetak has become quite expensive. The Chetak Urbane and Premium variants are available at Rs 1.43 lakh and Rs 1.45 lakh, respectively.

Chetak is currently not eligible for an increased grant, as it has not yet been approved under the FAME-II program. It will have to continue with its current prices. For this reason, Chetak prices are now at the same level as those of the Ather 450X.

Ather was the first electric two-wheeler manufacturer to announce lower prices due to increased subsidies. In Bengaluru, Ather 450 Plus and 450X are now priced at Rs 1,25,490 and Rs 1,44,500, respectively.

TVS iQube expansion plans

The rising subsidies couldn’t have come at a better time for iQube. This is because TVS is currently working to introduce iQube in 20 new cities. With lower prices, it might become easier for the business to attract customers. New cities that will be covered include Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad.

However, things won’t be easy for iQube, as Bajaj is also working on launching Chetak in new cities. Bajaj plans to cover around 30 new cities by the end of this fiscal year. Ather is already ahead of the game, having launched his scooter in more than a dozen cities. Other locations will be covered in the coming months.

TVS cuts price of iQube electric scooter by 11,250 rupees after FAME II subsidy review

Following the recent announcement revision of the subsidy under the FAME II scheme by the government, TVS Motor Company revised the price of its electric scooter, the iQube Electric.

The iQube Electric now costs Rs 11,250 less. From Rs 112,027 in New Delhi, the ecological scooter now costs Rs 100,777 in the capital. And in Bangalore, prices went from 121,756 to 110,506 Rs.

Launched in January 2020, the iQube Electric sold 62 units in FY2020, 1,061 units in FY2021 and 307 units in April 2021.

Commenting on the revised FAME II grant, Sudarshan Venu, Deputy General Manager of TVS Motor Company, said, “We welcome the government’s continued support for electric vehicles. Sustainable mobility solutions are very important for the future and TVS is investing heavily in this direction. Improved incentives for electric two-wheelers will increase penetration. Such political orientation should lead to the local development of future technology. “

The subsidy on electric two-wheelers has been increased by 50 percent under the FAME II program – up to 40 percent of the total cost of the vehicle

For a year and a half, the electric vehicle (EV) segment has experienced significant growth, especially for two-wheelers. With new manufacturers entering the Indian automotive market, the electric vehicle space has shown tremendous promise for the future.

The Indian government is also doing its part to boost sales of electric vehicles and reduce vehicle emissions by introducing the FAME II (Faster Adoption and Manufacture of Electric Vehicles in India) program. This was done in order to extend support to the right models amid a gradual increase in the number of two-wheelers in the EV space.

Revised FAME II grant

When introduced in 2019 by the Ministry of Heavy Industry (MHI), this policy offered benefits to models that met the eligibility criteria such as a minimum range of 80 km and a minimum top speed of 40 km / h. This scheme offered the advantages of a subsidy amounting to Rs 10,000 per kWh. Now the government has announced a 50 percent subsidy increase which now stands at Rs 15,000 per kWh for all electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrids except buses.

Additionally, MHI has now capped incentives for electric two-wheelers at 40 percent of vehicle cost from the old cap of 20 percent. From now on, the revised policy will apply to electric two-wheelers.

Any other changes to the program will be published in the coming days. Given the central government’s intention to make India an electric vehicle nation by 2030 by helping the adoption of electric vehicles, the latest revisions could be extended to the passenger vehicle segment as well.

Ather 450X, 450 Plus price reduction

The increase in the subsidy was immediately reflected in the prices of electric scooters. Ather Energy was the first to follow up on this initiative by reducing the prices of its first 450X offer to Rs 14,500 as a result of this amendment. For Bangalore, Ather 450X now costs Rs 1.44 lakh and Ather Plus now costs Rs 1.25 lakh. All prices are ex-sh.

Calling it a phenomenal move, Tarun Mehta, CEO and co-founder of Ather Energy, added, “Sales of electric two-wheelers have increased despite the pandemic and with this additional subsidy we expect sales of electric two-wheelers are disrupting the market. , and register more than 6 million units by 2025.

MHI has also notified its intention to use aggregation through Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) in order to bring the cost of electric 3-wheelers to the same level as that of IC-powered 3-wheelers. EESL would classify the demand for 3-wheel electric 3 lakhs into several user segments. To date, 76,008 vehicles have been sold under the FAME II program.

However, the company hasn’t made it clear in which Asian countries it plans to launch the new electric scooter, but we don’t have to wait any longer.

The 1.2 kW motor allows the electric scooter to travel a distance of 60 km and also comes with an adjustable 1.56 kWh lithium-ion battery. The battery gives 24.8 NM of maximum torque. It has been said that the scooter will be available in three different color variations including dark gray, white and blue. Although the manufacturers of the bicycle did not disclose the price of the new “Benelli Dong Electric Scooter” for various Asian markets. However, earlier the company launched the same model in the Indonesian market priced at Rs.1.9 Lakh. Bajaj plans to expand the Chetak electric scooter market; The price has gone up again

When Bajaj decided to enter the electric vehicle segment, he rightly named the first electric scooter Chetak. This was done to pay homage to an old vehicle that was probably the most used two-wheeler in India and its name had become synonymous with two-wheelers in the good old days.

While it’s not clear if it’s about the nostalgia or the quality of the new electric scooter or even both of them paired with the limited options of good electric scooters, the new Bajaj Chetak has been in high demand since the announcement. The company recently resumed online booking for the scooter, but decided to put it on hold again due to “high demand”.

Apart from the brake on online reservations, Bajaj has also increased the price of its electric two-wheeler. The Chetak, a name that equated to affordable personal transport, comes in a few variations – Urbane and Premium and is now priced at Rs. 1,42620 and Rs. 1,4,620 respectively. This is also the second price increase in as many months. Last month the price of these scooters was increased by Rs. 5,000 and now the price has been increased by around Rs. 27,000 on the last round.

Expensive and unavailable

At the current selling price, the price of the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter is almost similar to that of another high-end Ather 450X electric scooter which sells for between Rs. 1.28 lakh going up to Rs. 1.47 lakh for the high-end variant. Speaking of a slightly cheaper option, we have the iQube TVS which sells for around Rs. 1.08 lakh in Delhi through Fame II grants and around Rs. 130,000 in most other places.

Incidentally, Bajaj also announced that it is adding Chennai and Hyderabad to the list of cities where the battery-powered Chetak will be available for purchase. Previously, sales were limited to Pune and Bangalore only.

Ather and Bajaj both claim that their scooters sell in large numbers, however, these are high-end electric two-wheelers that are not helping the cause by bringing the mass adoption of electric vehicles in India. While Ather has added several new cities to their repertoire, Bajaj only sells in 4 cities in India.

On the other hand, Ola Electric, the EV arm of OLA, had recently stated that it would introduce a new smart electric scooter soon. This scooter is aimed at the mass market and therefore Ola wants to make these scooters on a large scale and has hinted that the price of the scooter will be aggressive.

The price of the Bird ES1 + electric scooter is expected to be 50,000 rupees

Bird ES1 + electric scooter

Bird ES1 + is essentially a rebadged SuperSoco CUx electric scooter that will be assembled at Bird Mobility’s facilities in Manesar

At last year’s Auto Expo, we were fortunate to see a plethora of electric vehicles (EVs) coming up, especially in the two-wheeler segment. While only a few of them were from already established car manufacturers, most of them were deals from relatively new start-ups trying to break into the Indian car industry.

One of them was Bird Electric Mobility Pvt. Ltd.– a subsidiary of the Bird group, which presented its lightweight ES1 + electric scooter. Since then, there haven’t been many updates regarding the upcoming e-scooter now. The electric mobility company has now confirmed that at the time of its launch, the ES1 + electric scooter will be offered for around Rs 50,000 (ex-showroom).

New conditions under the memorandum of understanding

This would easily make it one of the cheapest electric two-wheelers in the country. In addition, according to a recent update, the company has signed a memorandum of understanding with Australian electric mobility company VMoto, which owns the exclusive rights to sell and market VMoto and SuperSoco products worldwide, except in China.

VMoto already retail a number of electric two-wheelers under the SuperSoco brand including TSX, TS, CPx, CUx and many more. The company will also launch its entry-level offering in the form of the CUMini e-scooter.

Bird ES1 + electric scooter

Under the terms of the recent MoU, Bird Mobility would purchase 20 samples from the next CUMini for testing this month. These test units could be tested in a government-funded ridesharing project in New Delhi.

The scooters could then be renamed to Indian entity at a later stage. ES1 + is essentially a rebadged CUx electric scooter which, at the time of its unveiling at last year’s Auto Expo, was advertised to be assembled at Bird Electric’s factory in Manesar.

Design, features and specifications

Speaking of ES1 + electric scooter, it takes a minimalist approach to its design that includes a sharp LED headlight and LCD instrument cluster and high-end switch set. It has a split seat and LED taillight, while its clean slate look gives it an understated image.

In terms of dimensions, the electric scooter is 1,782mm in length, 727mm in width and 1,087mm in height. It offers a wheelbase of 1217 mm while the seat height is very accessible at 720 mm. The ground clearance is pegged at 140 mm.

Compliant with its specifications, it is powered by a 3 Ah lithium-ion battery that drives a 1.6 kW electric motor identical to that of the CUx. The e-scooter offers a range of 55 km on a single charge while it can reach a top speed of 45 km / h.

It rolls on 12-inch wheels and tilts the scale at just 62 kg. The hardware specifications of the electric scooter include telescopic forks at the front and double-spring shocks at the rear. Braking functions are provided by disc brakes at both ends.

Scheduled launch

The batteries of the electric scooter will be exchangeable and it will be imported to India as a CKD product from China and assembled locally in India. Earlier last year, Bird Electric announced that ES1 + would first launch in Delhi-NCR, followed by other Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities. Although an exact launch timeline has yet to be announced. revealed, we expect it to launch by mid-2021.

The price of the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter is expected to increase to Rs 1.5 Lakh

Bajaj Chetak

Production halt expected to be a setback for Bajaj Auto’s retail expansion plans for the Chetak

It’s been a year since the launch of the classic retro electric scooter Bajaj Chetak, but the company is struggling to realize its full potential. The lifestyle product received more than 50,000 expressions of interest and recorded sales of more than 1,300 units – from just two launch cities – Pune and Bangalore. Bajaj is currently sitting on a backlog of over 1,500 units. However, production bottlenecks have forced Bajaj to temporarily close reservations.

Bajaj Chetak Price Rise

Business Standard reports that Bajaj plans to increase the price of Chetak when production resumes at INR 1.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The electric scooter was launched in two variants with the basic Urbane variant priced at 1 lakh INR and the premium premium variant priced at 1.15 lakh INR (both prices are excluding showroom, Pune).

It was previously reported that Bajaj Auto suffered losses with every unit of Chetak sold at its introductory price. The price increase aims to mitigate / eliminate this loss.

With strong customer response, Bajaj Auto is confident that the price hike will not negatively impact the scooter outlook. The product is said attracted all kinds of buyers including the better-off who have never owned a two-wheeler before.

Bajaj Chetak Sales
Chetak sales averaged 250-300 units per month before production stopped due to a shortage of semiconductor chips

Production bottlenecks

Shortly after the launch of the Bajaj Chetak amid much fanfare, India entered a strict nationwide lockdown which halted production. Subsequent logistical problems, compounded by a deterioration in India-China relations, hampered the import of critical components.

Bajaj eventually managed to resume production only to put it on hold again due to acute semiconductor shortage worldwide. The break in production would significantly delay Bajaj Chetak’s retail expansion plans. Thus, a price increase seems inevitable to limit the damage.

Expansion plans and exports

Bajaj is currently working to increase local content in Chetak in addition to reforming its supply chain network. These issues are expected to be resolved in the coming months and the company is confident to expand market coverage from the current 2 cities to 24 cities by the end of next fiscal year.

Once the production constraints have been settled and the Chetak set in motion on the domestic market, the company can turn to export. In Europe, the Bajaj Chetak could position itself as a cheaper alternative to the Vespa Elettrica. As the old continent makes rapid progress in the field of electric mobility, the Chetak seems like an attractive proposition. Classic retro style is a big plus.

In addition to the Chetak, Bajaj’s electric scooter platform will also serve KTM and its subsidiary Husqvarna. A new production plant in Chakan is being prepared for the electric vehicle push in Bajaj.
