Piaggio India Aprilia and Vespa brands have announced that their respective scooter ranges have received updated brake systems in accordance with upcoming law. The Aprilia and Vespa scooters in the 150cc range will now be fitted with an ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), while those in the 125cc range will be fitted as standard with a Combined Braking System (CBS). The updated ABS / CBS also increases the prices of all scooters up to Rs 9,000. The law obliges two-wheelers up to 125cc to use combination brakes while those over 125cc to be fitted with l ‘ABS will come into effect from April 2019.
OVERDRIVE reported this decision in September 2018. At the time, Piaggio India CEO and General Manager Diego Graffi told us that all Aprilia and Vespa scooters would receive the update before the end of 2018. A few days from 2019, the group kept its promise.
